can the fuel pump be changed from the trunk or must the tank be dropped

  The labor time is only listed at 1.3 hours to replace the pump so I would say that this is not enough time to R&R the tank so I'm gonna say yes, you can get to it without dropping the tank.

  You have two fuel pumps on the 635 CSi, one is in the tank and one is inline (can be seen on the passenger side rear next to the fuel filter.) Each pump should take about 30-45 Minutes to remove and replace.

  When I did mine, I did it from the trunk access plate.

  I think your fuel pump access from under the rear set ?? Buy the Manual before you work on this..
