2001 Volkswagen Cabrio GLS 4Cyl2.0L - Steering & Suspension
Feelsl like I'm driving over boulders when I hit a small bump in the road. Assuming worn-out suspension?
I'm assuming I need to replace suspension parts, but I don't understand the difference between struts and shocks and which I need. I think the springs are ok.
Basically, it feels like I have no suspension and the rear end almost 'floats' when it goes over bumps. Very rough ride.

Several possibilities; faulty / worn suspension bushing, faulty / worn strut bushing, fautly / worn sway arm bushing. Suggest to raise and support the front end - so the front wheels are off the ground. Then, inspect the front end components for signs of wear.
Try the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the specific steps to inspect the steering and suspension components.
Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.RockAuto.com or www.autopartswarehouse.com for the replacement parts.
