Jimm 3/23/2013The existing fuel pump in the tank is an electrically-operated fuel pump, and not the engine mounted mechanical type. You can mount an external fuel pump - but you would have to first remove the existing fuel pump from inside the fuel tank to run a straight fuel line / fuel pickup - in its place.
If you are going to remove the fuel pump which is already inside the fuel tank, then why not replace that one - with a new one? Much less difficulty, headache and expense in the long run. Be sure to also replace the in-line fuel filter at the same time.
Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autoparts warehouse.com or www.rockauto.com - to list only two. For example, they (RockAuto) list the replacement fuel pump from around $53.00 for your vehicle. The in-line fuel filter is listed for around $2.00 - same source.
