Why doesn't my 1999 Lexus ES300 shift into 4th gear (overdrive) after the engine is warmed up?
When the engine is first started and cold the transmission will shift into overdrive ok. It stays there as long as I don.t slow down or stop, but once I do after the engine is warmed up, it doesn"t want to shift back up into overdrive. The other gears are shifting up ok. Any ideas?

menehune22 1/16/2013Have you checked the automatic transmission fluid level? It sounds like it may be low. Your transmission may need to be drained and refilled. Have you been following the Lexus maintenance schedule?
