I can't get my code reader to communicate
I have a service engine light on and my truck runs rough when I stop and I can't get my code scanner to communicate.

Try another code scanner - perhaps at any local auto parts stores; Advance Auto, Auto Zone - they will read the OBD system for free. Also, If you check your owners manual, you'll see that fuse #42 is assigned to the OBD and lighter.
Check the fuse - though cannot understand why the OBD port is on a shared circuit though. Poor design.

Thank you. I did find a blown fuse that was assigned to the lighter as well.
