What causes clunk sound right after take off from stop?
When I bought this truck (4X4)four years ago it had this sound. It mainly appears when I take off from a stop and sometimes when the automatic shifts at low speed. I go about two car lengths and it clunks. Sounds like from rear. Various experts(?) have replaced universal joints, springs, checked all mounts and any other thing that could be loose, also checked transmission. I have not been able to get anyone to consider the differential as a cause. It does not seem to get worse. The truck had 97,000 miles then and has 170,000 now. I have a 91 Mazda B2600i with 327,000 miles and have never had anything like this on it. Both trucks are automatic. No lights or other symptoms
