Charcoal Canisters on Bronco
I was told that my charcoal canister may be the reason that my gas tank keeps cutting off when i go to fill it up. A friend told me i could just take it out and id be able to fill my tank up is this true? If so is that safe and also how would i go about doing that? What do i do with the line heading into it?

Jimm 11/26/2012Several possibilites; faulty / clogged fuel tank vent tubes (these route next to the main fill tube) - clean or replace these hoses. The charcoal canister is part of the evaporative emission system and usually causes a stumble or symptoms like misfiring / hesitation. If clogged, the charcoal canister may be replaced fairly easily and inexpensively.
Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts.
