  Depending on the input given, your catalytic converter is working hard that indicates unburned fuel in the exhaust which is most likely caused by ignition misfire or a compression leak. Did you try to test the catalytic converter with a vacuum gauge, to determine its working condition? Test and replace it if necessary.
