my car is showing P700 code as well as P0734 and some other P codes. what is wrong?
the engine light came on one day and thinking it was just a sensor as I had just replaced one in the fall, i kept driving. then one day very close to home the car lost all ability to properly switch gears. It took some pushing but I made it home in my yard. when we checked the transmission fluid it was dirty so we changed the transmission fluid and filter and the car worked for 2 day and the engine light came back on so we took it home and parked it. I had a friend check with his reader and it showed 8 different codes one day but that was prior to changing the fluid and filter. I purchased a code reader and it still shows the p700 code as well as p0734 and some others that referred to 1st, 2nd and 3 gear ratio's. so I cleared the codes again and drove for another 2 days perfectly fine and the engine light came on again and all gears stopped working. I hear a loud ticking noise as well when accelerating. What is wrong with my car?

Your P0700 code needs to be addressed right away. This signifies a problem with the solenoid pack, which is an external part that can be fixed for around $200 if you do it yourself, $300 if you take it somewhere. But a bad solenoid pack can mess up the whole tranny resulting in a total rebuild, which runs anywhere from $1200 to $2000 depending on where you go.
CODE PO734 A / T ADDITIONAL GEAR RATIO ERROR IN FOURTH GEAR, POSSIBLE CAUSES; RELATED DTCS WILL BE PRESENT, TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY HAS MALFUNCTIONED OR FAILED, INTERNAL TRANSMISSION MECHANICAL PROBLEMS MAY EXIST, INTERMITTENT GEAR RATIO ERRORS ARE PRESENT.

thanks for your reply. I hope that is all that is wrong. she has a lot of live left in her yet if this is an easy fix. I just found the list of codes that the car first gave me when we first put it on the code reader: P0740, P0732, P0731, P0846, P0700. do you think there could be multiple problems?

OK, here is the final answer. Replace both input and output shaft speed sensors. If this does not solve the problem then the transmission is junk and needs a rebuild. The P0700 is not representative of a specific malfunction of a specific component but rather simply means that there is a code stored in the TCM. In this case the code that is representative of a failed component is the P0734 which means that the transmission is slipping in 4th gear. Now reading all the other codes you mention at the end - I think its over for that tranny.

I just put the code reader on my car again as I have not done so since it last gave out on me. Currently the car is showing the following codes in the following order: P0732, P0700, P0731, P0700. with this new information, could we more closely pin point the problem? Thanks for all your help!

I'm not sure what this means, You need to get it to, or cal a tranny specialist, whether HCA is right about the tranny being toast or not to get a quote per our assesments of problem. Get a few.
