Why would a car that was leaking oil stop leaking, but still sound like it needs oil?
Great car but for the last 2 years I was adding 1-2 quarts of oil every few weeks; then drove 800+ miles in one trip forgetting to check the oil; it was very low and very black, but added oil and drove home. It hasn't been low on oil in the 2 months since (by the dipstick measure) but "sounds" like it used to sound when it needed oil (clicking noise in engine).

HouseCallAuto 2/4/2013It is not the gasoline octane. You have either low oil pressure from a clogged oil pump intake screen or you have very worn timing chain guides and tensioners and a stretched chain, both of these things are not uncommon on a Saturn 1.9 engine. As for why the oil leak stopped I cannot say.
