Why does the car jerk really hard when shifting the car from park to reverse and/or drive?
The car also jerks/shifts really hard as you begin to accelerate. It seems as though it is having a really hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. It also seems like it does a less severe jerk in the next shift. Additionally, it has started idling funny. The car will start normally and then begin to rev slightly on its own. The revving never exceeds 1k rpm. Any ideas?

no idea but the high idle will cause the jerk and feom the description of the gear change then i do feel its time to trade this car in and lumber the dealer with the problems here as i do think you will need a new gearbox before long so trade it on quick ,How about something like a VW up or a peugeot C3 all diesel with manual gearboxes and capable of 70+MPG think of how much fuel money you can save
