2001 Ford Escort ZX2 4Cyl2.0L - Engine

when car is in drive but stopped I feel a strong vibration

The problem of vibration occurs when stopped but in drive. The vibration is felt and strongly so in the steering wheel. When these conditions are present and the car is viewed from below there is a strong vibration visible going the whole length of the muffler.
Not sure if it is he engine or maybe drive train.

  There is alot of possibilities for this problem . The first thing I would ask is if you have had any engine work lately , then whether or not it is running rough and depending on the way the vehicle has been driven would suggest looking at motor mounts for excessive movement .
