I have a 1996 geo metro with an automatic transmistion. I drove it home the other day. the next day i got in it, it started right up but will not go forward or back up. I thouth the linkeg in the tranne came off so I pull the pan, the linkeg was not off. the pan had metel fibers in it. but I found one piece of what looks to be a piece of a verry thin copper washer. what do you think? have an idea ? snap625@netzero.net

    Most likely internal damage, something got chipped inside and a transmission overhaul is what you need.

    take it to a transmission shop for a better idea, my advise find a salvage yard and replace it! i shouldnt cost more than a couple hundred $
