1986 Chevrolet K20 Scottsdale 8Cyl5.7L - Engine

i have a 86 chevy pickup the fuel gauge reads 3/8 of a tank when full. replaced sending unit no luck any help please

  Have another person to observe the fuel gauge. Test the fuel gauge by removing the gauge terminal from the sending unit and ground it to a known good chassis ground. If the fuel gauge shows the readings in full, then the gauge is good.The sending unit may be bad.
