1980 Volkswagen Super Beetle Base 4Cyl1.6L - Engine
I have a 79 VW SuperBeetle, Is a distributor the same as a carburator?
The vehicle will not start after having some work done on it. It was running great after the work, but after turining it off the second or third time it wouldn't start again.

The distributor is part of the ignition system. It's function is to take the ignition coil electric impulse and distribute the high voltage impulse to the individual cylinder via the spark plug and in the propoer firing order. The carburetor is part of the fuel / intake system. It's function is to mix gasoline with the incoming air under all starting and running conditions of the engine. Two different components.
What type of work was done to the car?

Okay, I knew that, just wanted to see if you guys really know what you are talking about. I will be working on my VW Superbeetle and will be asking questions as I go. Good to know I have found a trustworthy place to go.
