1998 Oldsmobile Regency Base 6Cyl3.8L - Transmissions & Drivetrains

1998 Olds auto trans 68,000 miles from stop to fairly hard acceleration I get a sliping and shutering coming from trans.

  Inspect fluid level & condition. Inspect fluid pan for dents/damage. If OK a hyd pressure test needs to be performed.
  
  Note: This vehicle has a 4T65 transaxle. I've had several in my shop where the fluid filter has fallen off inside the pan.

  It the filter has fallen off, would that cause this problem?
