Raise the vehicle on jack stands and locate the catalytic converter.

Tap the catalytic converter with a rubber mallet to reproduce the noise being heard. If it is the same noise, replace the catalytic converter.

Unbolt the mounting clamps holding the catalytic converter to the pipe.

Remove the catalytic converter.

Clean all mounting surfaces. Remove burrs on the metal pipes to allow the new converter to slide on easier.

Install the new converter and tighten the clamps back so that the converter is secure and in place.
