How to Replace an Upper Radiator Hose
for the 2005 Ford F-150 XLT 8 Cyl 5.4L change
Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.
Open the hood and locate the vehicle's radiator.
Inspect the upper radiator hose.
With the engine off and cold, install the cooling system pressure tester. Apply pressure indicated on radiator cap or in the owner's manual.
Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Remove the pressure tester.
Place a drain pan under the radiator. Drain the cooling system.
Remove the upper radiator hose clamps. Remove upper radiator hose.
Install hose clamps on new upper radiator hose.
Install the new radiator hose and place the clamps over the hose ends. Tighten the hose clamps.
Top off radiator and overflow tank with coolant (anti-freeze / water mixture at 50/50).
Run engine until warm and check for any leaks.
