How to Adjust a Hood Release Latch
This guide requires the following supplies:
Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.
Open the hood and locate the hood latch.
Loosen the bolts attaching the hood latch just enough to move the latch.
Move the latch side-to-side to align it with the opening in the hood inner panel.
Loosen the locknuts on the two hood stops and lower the stops.
Move the hood latch up or down to obtain a flush fit between the top of the hood and the fenders when an upward pressure is applied to the front of the hood.
Tighten the hood latch mounting bolts.
Raise the two hood stops to eliminate any looseness at the front of the hood when closed. Tighten the locknuts.
Open and close the hood several times to check operation.
